I LOVE cleaning with lemon. It smells so clean and fresh and it is a cleaning wonder. Got sticky residue? Use lemon. Grease on your stovetop? Use lemon. Permanent magic marker scribbled all over your wood credenza (yes, this is personal experience)… Use lemon.
I tend to use my lemon on nearly everything (except plastic*) straight out of the bottle. But if you want to be a little more conservative with your essential oil, this this is a great recipe for you.
With this mixture, you can shine stainless steel, remove grime from microwaves, freshen up your garbage disposal, and even deep clean appliances like your washing machine and refrigerator.
Ingredients
10 drops Lemon oil
1 cup water
1 cup vinegar
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a glass container and mix well.
- Spray on the surface you wish to clean and wipe off with a clean cloth.
You can use this mixture with a toothbrush, microfiber cloth, or other cleaning tool to dust, shine surfaces, and remove dirt and grime around the home. I recommend you mix this up in a spray bottle and keep it in your kitchen or bathroom. That way you have easy access when daily spills and messes occur. Shake well before each use.
*Note that lemon, as well as other citrus oils, can dissolve petrochemicals. This is a great thing when wanting to detoxify your body, but not so awesome when you’re using it with cheap plastic. Always use glass or stainless steel as containers for your essential oils and essential oil DIY recipes.
