Give Us What??!!??

You know how every now and then something comes into your head and just sort of rattles around in there, trying to find a home. Well, as I was driving home from work the other day I noticed this sign and it’s been rattling around my head ever since.
So, can someone explain that to me in a way that makes sense? I just don’t get it…
Sam suggested that perhaps it has something to do with transubstantiation, the belief that the sacrament actually becomes the body and blood of Christ…. however, I thought that was just a Catholic doctorine and as you can see, this was at an Adventist church. Perhaps Adventists believe it as well, but the sign is still a little unnerving. And it got even creepier when J’Neil pointed out that the other side of the sign said “Everyone Welcome.”
That is way creepy.
Maybe it has to do with the “milk before meat” scripture, and these guys think they’re ready for the meat? Either way it’s a bit unnerving and makes me glad I live on this side of the Cascades.
Allison, you may be on the right track, but I think the “milk before meat” thing, particularly in that terminology, is unigue to LDS scripture: “And I command you that you preach naught but repentance, and show not these things unto the world until it is wisdom in me. For they cannot bear meat now, but milk they must receive; wherefore, they must not know these things, lest they perish” (D&C 19:21-22).
The first part of Mathew 7 talks a little about it, in the “not casting your pearls before swine” way. And so, indeed they may be referring to their readiness for the meat.
Thanks, you have helped calm the rattling in my brain…. but then that word flesh comes up again. It’s just creepy…
(Unfortunately, I don’t think this type of thing is limited to this side of the cascades…. although Pastor Fred may be. 🙂 )
I think they are cannibals. Tim believes that Pastor Fred is trying to be confusing so one must show up for the sermon to find out why he places creepy messages on his marquee.
And then when someone does show up to find out about the creepy messages, they become the guest of honor, right? Remember, “Everyone’s Welcome!”
Perhaps Pastor Fred is just hungry ??
Maybe Pastor Fred has put his congregation on a low-carb regimine?
Pastor Fred may indeed be very hungry – and maybe that’s because he’s on a low-carb diet! So he’s got eating on his mind! Of course! And he uses the term “flesh” because of some of the other demons in his head!! That must be it! I’m feeling much better now….
Or could it be that a member of his congregation posted the sign – as an appeal? Like “Pastor Fred, please give us some flesh to eat.” Now I’m getting creeped out again….
