Fall: Our favorite time of the year
Sep 16th, 2007 by craig
It’s almost fall! We’re really looking forward to fall around here – it’s by far our favorite time of year. Just on principle we’re lobbying for Halloween to be a national holiday. Some of the things we’re looking forward to:
Cooler temperatures – we love the cool crisp air in the fall
Falling leaves – yes, I do have to rake them up, but they’re beautiful yellows and reds make it all worth it
The NFL – football seems to have been made for watching on TV. It’s the best
The fall foods – we love to be able to start fixing stews and chili. Its apple season, time for apple crisps, apple pies (and lots of other pies as well!) caramel apples, and apples all by themselves. We’ll be cooking turkeys: at least one in October and one in November
Longer nights – and the cozy evenings at home
The fall clothes – we have way more long sleeves shirts, sweatshirts and sweaters than we have lighter clothes
Fall, ahhh wish I could experience it. Fall in Phoenix means temps under 100 and it’s time to plant winter grass. Sweaters, scarfs…maybe in December.
That was always the problem with living in Vegas as well, no seasons. If I had my way, we’d have 3 months of spring, 1 month of summer, 1 month of winter and 7 months of fall.
We’re starting to feel fall now!! I love the crisp mornings and evenings. My weather program claims it’s 46º right now. How delightful, as it will warm up to between 70º and 80º in the afternoon.
We love Halloween — I used to dislike it, as we are not into the scary/horror/gore stuff. But there is a charming side of Halloween as well, and we love it here. Witches and ghosts and haunted houses, bats and cauldrons and pumpkins. I love my Halloween decorations, probably even more than my Christmas ones. Little friendly ghosts all over the house.
I wish we had a good maple tree in the yard. Maple trees can make for beautiful fall colors.
hmmm….. cool temperatures and halloween decorations… life doesn’t get much better than this. This morning it was cool enough that I was thinking of having some hot chocolate!
Oh, I love “sweater weather”… I’ve been able to snuggle deep under my down comforter the past couple of nights, surrounded by the delightful nip in the air. My only wish during this season would be for the daylight to last a little longer into the evening.
