Chocolate Day, September 13th
Sep 12th, 2007 by craig
In observance of Milton Hershey’s birthday, September 13th (that’s tomorrow!) is International Chocolate Day! For me, I like my chocolate to be of the milk variety and with peanuts. Hmmm, hmmmm. I’m also a big fan of hot chocolate and chocolate dipped doughnuts. How do you like yours??
MMMMM Chocolate….. which reminds me of:
Homer Simpson (standing at open freezer, as he opens boxes of neapolitan):
“MMMMM Chocolate..”
“Doh!”
“MMMMM Chocolate..”
“Doh!”
“Marge…we need more chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream!!!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I, too, prefer the milk chocolate variety, surrounding as many nuts as possible (almonds and cashews being the favorite)…. or, of course the to die for Hazelnut Lindor Balls…..
On crepes (with toasted coconut, macadamia nuts, fresh fruit, whipped cream and a cherry).
In baked goods (cake, cookies, brownies, no names, hello dollies, etc)
In bar form (hersheys and symphony will do, but what I really want is that chocolate we got in France…)
Okay, that’s enough. This is going to ruin my diet for the rest of the day.
Choloate Chip cookies are my all time favorite (although I’m really into dark choloate with almonds at the present time). I alway thought the best cookies are the ones with just a little dough to provide a spacer for the chips.
In my opinion there is no bad way to have chocolate! Although I have found some that don’t sit to well with me. The new sugar free chocolates are so good, but, whatever they put in them gives me the runs, so I have to avoid them. If I only eat one it’s not so bad, so why not just eat all the good stuff and only eat one of them.
Grandpa and I are really into chocolate with almonds. And like craig chocolate with nuts can’t be beat.
My favorite way to eat chocolate is on smore’s. Lots and lots of smore’s. Thats usually the only way I really eat chocolate, is when we are camping. MMMMMMMM
Man, there’s some great ways to have chocolate! Nuts and chocolate seem pretty popular. I should mention macadamia nuts and chocolate – however to get the right porportion of nut to chocolate I have to get a can of the unsalted, unchocolate covered macadamias and eat two uncovered ones along with each chocolate covered one.
I also absolutely love chocolate chip cookies – partularly the ones J’Neil makes. She seems to have perfected the chocolate chip cookie making process. In our house, whenever she makes them we tend to eat a lot of the “dough cookies” as well.
Mom, your comment reminds me of the time I was in an airport (Las Vegas, I think) and I stopped at one of those little candy places they have and asked for some of the sugar free chocolate covered peanuts (I was trying to be healthy and not have so much sugar). The lady asked if I “needed” to have the sugar free ones for health reasons, because if I didn’t I shouldn’t be eating them before getting on a plane because of the effect they would have on me. I got the ones with sugar!
We love S’Mores as well! Jamie, have you had the “Indoor S’Mores” I often make?
O.K. this is my first visit to ‘whereever I am’, but the lure of chocolate could not be resisited. My new found favorite way to eat chocolate is milk chocolate dipped strawberries. I can convince myself they are somewhat healthy for me while also being VERY VERY tasty! Of course, it’s impossible to beat warm milk chocolate chip cookies and milk. Suddenly, I’m feeling very hungry. Talk to you all later.
Hey, Kathy, good to hear from you!
I also love the chocolate dipped strawberries. Both cold and a warm version we do so you have soft, warm strawberries with melted chocolate topped with whipped cream…. man, now I’m going to have to fix some next time I’m home….
Yay! Okay, now I’m looking forward to them this weekend. 🙂
OH darn….and I was doing so well on my diet ! I feel a chocolate morning coming on.
You know, there are benefits to eating chocolate…. unfortunately, diet support isn’t one of them.
