J’Neil Sings
Apr 16th, 2010 by craig
About a week ago we had the privilege of going to see J’Neil perform as part of the Southridge High School Symphony and Band. She played flute and piccolo and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. They have a tradition for their concerts of having students come out and perform individually during the time they switch up from the Orchestra to the Symphony or to the Band. For this concert, J’Neil came out and played guitar and sang.
I was very proud.
She did very well, though she said she was nervous, she appeared quite comfortable, evening joking with the audience a little before she started playing (“can you hear me?”). She performed “Little Wonders” and was just great. Several people were compelled to tell me how good she sounded.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any audio or video of her performance, but several months ago I did record her singing Little Wonders. It’s not great, not as well as she did at the concert, (she’ll probably point out right off that in this recording she’s not playing her twelve string) but you can get an idea of how she sounds here:
*sigh* It’s just not the same without all 12 strings.. 🙂 Have I said thank you for that, by the way? 🙂 And thanks for bragging about me! It makes me feel special 🙂
You sound lots more nervous in this recording than you did at the performance. You were just cool and smooth at the performance. My favorite part of this recording, though, is the WooHoo! at the end. 🙂 So very J’Neil.
J’Neil: you are special!!!
She did sound a a lot better at the performance – much more comfortable.
Yes, the woohoo is all J’Neil. It was actually at the end of another take (I think I made her do about five takes – this one she actually crashed pretty bad at the end of so I had to edit another end to it and the woohoo was the only logical choice 🙂 ). The outtake is all J’Neil too: J’Neil Outtake
I LOVED listening to that recording. I’d actually never heard that song before either, so double bonus. 🙂 Great job J’Neil!! I hope you always remember how blessed you are to have such loving and proud parents too.
You sound great J’Neil. Wish I could have been to your performance. I’ll have to attend one in your lovely new media room 🙂
I’m so glad you posted J’Neil singing. She has a beautiful sweet voice. I’m so proud of you J’Neil for over coming the fears and preforming at your school. Keep singing and developing your many talents and gifts. I’m soooooooooo glad you did a little bragging Craig.
Loved it !!
